COMMUNION BELIEFS

Words of Institution

Our Lord Jesus Christ, on the night He was betrayed, took bread: and when He had given thanks, He broke it, and gave it to His disciples, and said, Take, eat; this is My body, which is given for you. This do in remembrance of Me. In the same way also after supper He took the cup, and when He had given thanks, gave it to them, saying, Take and drink of it all of you. This is My blood of the New Testament which is shed for you for the remission of sins. This do as often as you drink of it in remembrance of Me.

Our Beliefs

Holy Communion is celebrated at Son Life Lutheran Church in response to Jesus’ invitation, Do this often… in remembrance of Me. In preparation we acknowledge our sinful condition and our need for forgiveness. We believe that Jesus Christ is the only Savior from all sin, Satan and death. We believe that the Risen Lord Jesus is really present in the Sacrament and that with the bread and wine we receive His true body and blood (“in, with, and under”). We trust with glad confidence His Word, Given and shed for you for the forgiveness of sins. We also resolve to dedicate our lives to the services of Jesus Christ in His Body, the Church, by regular group worship, sacrificial giving, and thankful living.

Visitors

If you share these beliefs with us, you are welcome to the Communion rail. Common cup, individual cups, and grape juice are available. If you are invalid or infirm, just ask one of the elders or ushers and Pastor will bring the elements to you where you are seated.

Children

Children are invited to the Communion rail for a blessing and are kindly asked to indicate so by crossing their arms over their chest.

If you have any questions about Holy Communion or the confession of Son Life Lutheran Church, you are welcome to contact Pastor John at (561) 738-5433 or speak to one of the church elders.
